Two star-studded line-ups hoping to take their place amongst the Indian Premier League (IPL) elite, DC vs SRH promises to be a spectacular event at Abu Dhabi. These two teams have had contrasting starts to the tournament as Delhi Capitals have managed to win both their opening games whereas the Sunrisers have lost their first two.
Sunrisers Hyderabad will take the positive from the head-to-head stats against the Delhi Capitals, having won nine times as compared to six by the Capitals. Even when it comes to the last five DC vs SRH matches, the Sunrisers have had the edge over DC again. They have won three matches out of the previous five matches and can fancy their chances yet again.
Kagiso Rabada vs David Warner
This battle could turn out to be the deciding factor in this match. Both these players are the best players from their respective teams. Delhi will be hoping that Kagiso Rabada could get the better of the Sunrisers captain whereas Warner would want to see off the threat posed by Rabada and cash in against the other Delhi bowlers.
Rabada has taken 5 wickets so far in this IPL with the economy rate of 6.75, despite bowling 11 overs or more in all three phases of the match. Rabada has been consistently performing in the IPL as he has been the highest wicket-taker in the tournament since 2019. Besides, Rabada has the best average in IPL since 2019 among the 48 bowlers who have bowled 20 or more overs, with the best strike rate as well. Rabada has never been wicketless in any of his 14 matches since 2019 in IPL. Expect him to continue this streak in this match as well.
The captain of the Sunrisers, David Warner has had a difficult start to the IPL after getting out in an unusual manner in their opening match against Bangalore. He got going in their second match but gave it away uncharacteristically in that match as well. He’ll be raring to go in the upcoming matches and will look to get his team their first victory. If he gets past Rabada and Nortje’s opening spells, then it’ll be pretty difficult to stop him from scoring a half-century.
PLAYERS TO WATCH OUT FOR
Shikhar Dhawan is up against his former team and revenge could be on the cards for Gabbar. So far in the tournament, he hasn’t played the big innings what he is capable of and this could be the ideal match for him to get going.
For SRH to be successful they need Manish Pandey to play the anchor role in that batting order. He has been given the role of batting at number three and taking the game deep. He has enough ability to strike big in the death overs of a match.
DC: Shikhar Dhawan, Prithvi Shaw, Shimron Hetmyer, Shreyas Iyer (C), Rishabh Pant (WK), Marcus Stoinis, Axar Patel, Amit Mishra, Kagiso Rabada, Anrich Nortje, Avesh Khan
