Team Punjab’s campaign is well and truly back after they scripted history in their previous match against Mumbai by becoming the first-ever team in the history of cricket to win a match in the second Super Over. they must be eager to front up against table-toppers the Delhi which ironically also finished via a Super Over in their previous meeting.
Punjab’s three wins from nine games is nowhere near an accurate description of how they have played at times. They’ll be hoping that luck has turned in their favour and they can put together a string of good results to qualify for the playoffs. On the other hand we Delhi who haven’t been at their very best in the previous few fixtures but have still managed to take some crucial wins.
KXIP vs DC has been won by Punjab 14 times as compared to 10 by Delhi and the last five matches also have been won by Punjab more times though Delhi are unbeaten against them in the previous two games.
KL Rahul vs Shikhar Dhawan
KL Rahul scored his 3rd consecutive half-century scoring 77 from 51 balls scoring at a strike rate of 150.98. Rahul became the first player to score 500 runs in IPL 2020. Overall, he is the second quickest in terms of matches to score 500 runs only behind Virat Kohli. Rahul has been superb against fast bowlers in IPL 2020, averaging 82.8. Against a pace heavy opposition attack, he should be able to continue his rich form.
Shikhar Dhawan has scored one century and two half-centuries in his last three innings. His century in the previous match was also his first T20 century. Dhawan always looked in touch this season scoring 30+ runs thrice in the first six matches but was not converting them into big scores. He has finally found his usual touch and wouldn’t want to throw it away cheaply now.
PLAYERS TO WATCH OUT FOR
Mayank Agarwal has also been superb opening alongside Rahul playing the role of the aggressor, Mayank has scored 393 runs at a strike rate of 159.10. Mayank’s strike rate is the best by an opener in the tournament. He’ll be filled with confidence after he hit the winning runs in the Super Over and will be eager to make another big score against Delhi.
After a brilliant start to the tournament, Shreyas Iyer’s form has dipped a little in the recent few matches. Still, he has enough quality to rectify the errors he’s making out in the middle and score big in the upcoming matches.
