The bottom-dweller, Punjab have turned from looking down and out to beating the top three teams in the league and this is why KXIP vs SRH can prove to be quite an encounter. From being eighth on the points table with a solitary win from seven games, Punjab had one step already at the exit door. But, since then, they’ve bounced back in some style.
Hyderabad too, have endured a rollercoaster ride so far. Pundits ruled them out from that battle for the top four positions but suddenly they found themselves in the mix of the battle after a handsome win in their last game against Rajasthan. KXIP vs SRH promises to be a nail-biting encounter and a tough one to call. Punjab over the years have been Hyderbad’s bunny as their dismal head to head record suggests. In 15 previous KXIP vs SRH matches, Hyderabad have won 11 times showing their dominance over the team from the north. The previous encounter between these was also pretty one-sided favouring the Sunrisers.
Mayank Agarwal vs Jonny Bairstow
Indian T20 League 2020 has been one of the best seasons so far for Mayank Agarwal. He has already been involved with KL Rahul in scoring 2 hundred plus partnerships and has scored 398 runs for Punjab so far. This season he has scored the only century of his T20 career and most 50+ scores (3) compared to his rest.
When Jonny Bairstow made his debut in 2019, he emerged as one of the most hard-hitting batsmen of the season. On the other side, in 2020, Bairstow’s batting has been quite different from his usual style. Despite this season being less colourful as compared to 2019 for Bairstow, He has scored 207 runs at Dubai in 2020 — 3rd most in this season at this venue. Two out of his fifties have also come at this ground. He should be able to show his class in this match.
PLAYERS TO WATCH OUT FOR
Nicholas Pooran has an excellent season so far. He has scored 295 runs for Punjab this season at a strike rate of 183.22, that’s the best in that batting line-up. He has scored two half-centuries for them providing the much-needed support in the middle-order. Nicholas Pooran has been the clear leader scoring runs in that middle-order.
Sandeep Sharma is among the veterans of the league. He has always been a reliable bowler in the tournament, though this season seems to be quite rough for him. So far from 7 matches in the league, Sandeep has taken only 4 wickets at an average of 53.25 with the economy of 7.60.
He’s up against his former team and should be able to do well in this match.
