We’ve reached the business end of the Indian T20 League and for Qualifier 1 we have two of the strongest teams of the tournament in Mumbai and Delhi going head-to-head for a spot in the final. Both these teams have strong first XIs, good bench strength and sufficient back-up for key players. While Mumbai played like the defending champions throughout the league stage finishing first in the points table, Delhi after a strong start struggled in the latter stage.
Mumbai have managed to beat Delhi on both occasions these two teams met in the league stage. The winner gets an automatic ticket to the final to be played in the same stadium. The loser will have a chance to redeem themselves in the Eliminator, but neither team would like to take that route.
Jasprit Bumrah vs Shikhar Dhawan
The top bowler from one team takes on the in-form batter of the other team. Bumrah versus Dhawan promises to be a mouth-watering encounter.
Earlier in the tournament, Shikhar Dhawan became the first player ever to score consecutive centuries in the Indian T20 League. He took some time to find his feet in the competition but now he stands as the batsman with some form in that Delhi batting line-up. Dhawan has a special liking towards Bumrah having been unbeaten against ‘Boom Boom’ in nine innings in this competition.
If Jasprit Bumrah gets to know about this particular matchup then we’re sure he’d like to change this around in this match. He has a chance to win the Purple Cap and after being rested in the previous match he’ll be raring to put in a performance to take his team to the final of the Indian T20 League.
In crunch situations, the best stand out and Bumrah will be the top bowler in this match.
PLAYERS TO WATCH OUT FOR
He came after being crowned as the CPL champions and winning the player of the tournament award, Pollard hasn’t put a foot wrong so far in the competition. He has averaged 86.33 and has a strike rate of 193.28 in the league stage and expect his good form to continue.
R Ashwin was magnificent in the last match against Bangalore and his four-over spell helped restrict Bangalore to a modest first innings total. There are some concerns with his hamstring but was seen bowling in the nets in leading up to this match. His record against Rohit and de Kock is promising and he could be a deciding factor in the Qualifier 1.
