Edu Garcia Leads Player Ratings in FC Goa vs ATK Mohun Bagan

Edu Garcia scored his first goal of the Hero Indian Super League 2020-21 season last Sunday against FC Goa and the Spaniard did that in style. A foul was awarded right outside the box, and much to the Goan custodian’s surprise, Garcia fired the ball towards the right of the keeper and scored the first goal of the match. The Mariners were, however, unable to stop the Gaurs from equalising as the match finished 1-1.

Here’s how the top ATK Mohun Bagan players fared in this hotly-contested draw at the Fatorda Stadium.

EDU GARCIA – 8/10

Edu Garcia’s trademark celebration was back when he scored the first goal against FC Goa. He was good throughout the match but his ability on the dead ball is second to none. It was visible in the 75th minute as he broke the deadlock in this match. He made sure that the Mariners scored yet another goal in the second half of a match in the Hero ISL. He created the most chances in this game and was easily the best player on the pitch.

SANDESH JHINGAN – 7/10

As the season is progressing, we are able to see the best of Sandesh Jhingan. He looks far more comfortable on the ball and rock-solid defensively. He’d be disappointed with the way the goal was scored just nine minutes after scoring but it was important that they showed their character in this match after a disappointing game against Mumbai City FC and Jhingan led the way in this game.

PRABIR DAS – 7/10

After ending the previous campaign with the Emerging Player of the Season award, Prabir Das has struggled to reach the same heights in this season. Antonio Lopez Habas went back to his wing-back for this game and he showed what he brings to the field. We saw glimpses of what Prabir is capable of in this game and should take positives from this match to start the second half of the season on a high.

ARINDAM BHATTACHARJA – 6/10

After suffering a troubling eye injury in the match against Mumbai City FC, there were some concerns about Arindam’s availability for this game. Not only did he start, but he put up yet another brilliant performance against the Gaurs. Arindam is amongst the top three goalkeepers with most saves in the season and his team needed him yet again in this game to pull off a number of saves. He’d be disappointed with a missed clean sheet but he made sure that his team got an important point in this game.

CARL MCHUGH – 6/10

Carl McHugh was a major miss in the top of the table clash against Mumbai City FC<. It was imperative that he got fit against Goa for this game and he took back his defensive midfielder spot in the team beautifully. Apart from screening the defence with ease, he also created some chances at the other end of the pitch and fancied getting on the scoresheet in this game.
