The Europa League final is all set to take centre stage on May 27 at Gdansk, Poland with Manchester United and Villarreal going head-to-head with the hope of lifting the European cup. Both teams have reached the final the hard way. United overpowered AS Roma in the semi-finals while Villarreal just edged past English side Arsenal to make it to their first-ever European final.
Here’s how the Europa League final is shaping up.
UNAI EMERY IS A EUROPA LEAGUE LEGEND
If there’s anyone who is Mr Europa League then that tag has to go to Spanish coach Unai Emery. His love affair with the Europa League continued as he led his team to the biggest match in the club’s history. He has personally won the cup three consecutive times, all with Sevilla, but this will be his first Europa League final with the Yellow Submarines.
He has the tactical know-how and the experience of delivering at the biggest stage and that would give his team an edge over their rivals who could be nervous coming into this all-important final.
OLE’S TEAM IS QUITE CLOSE TO THEIR MAIDEN TROPHY
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s Manchester United have had more than a decent season so far but they’d be desperate to put the finishing touch by bringing in their first piece of silverware under the Norwegian manager.
They were finally able to break the semi-finals blues under Ole as they stormed past Roma, 8-5 on aggregate. This will be United’s biggest test so far with Ole at the wheel and if they were to get past this hurdle then they could go in to the next season brimming with confidence.
All we know is that this one will be quite a blockbuster!
